Creamos Futuros Hair Scrunchies - Blue and Black Multi
Creamos is a social entrepreneurship initiative aiming to offer safe and dignified income generating opportunities for the mothers of the children within Safe Passage, Creamos’ parent NGO. Safe Passage helps children break the cycle of poverty through education, life skills and perseverance. These are both centred around women and children living in the area surrounding the Guatemala City garbage dump, who previously could only rely on collecting, recycling and reselling items scavenged in the dump to earn a living.
We are honoured to be stocking the Scrunchies made from scrap textiles and sewn by the women of Creamos. These are truly sustainable, zero waste, fairly traded products that support extremely vulnerable women and children.
Guatemlan textiles are some of the most recognisable in the world, and arguably the most colourful and beautiful. Often woven on a back strap loom, these ancient patterns are a part of Mayan history and are to be respected and appreciated as they are made by individuals for work wear, not usually to be sold. We consider it very lucky to be given the chance for scraps to be used to become a new product we can purchase and sell to support Creamos
